Plastic Beard Combs are NOT Bad M...kay!

When you hear or read someone say that plastic combs are bad for your beard... don't buy into the hype because it's a big fat hairy pile of bull shit... otherwise known as a MYTH.

It is propagated by beard product companies to sell you the more expensive wood combs. They do it

because the popular perception is that plastic combs are bad. They spout this shit because the profit margins are higher on wooden combs. They do it because they have never actually tried a plastic comb for themselves. They looked online when they first started growing a beard 10 minutes ago and all they saw were wood combs and articles about how plastic combs are bad. They also do it cuz they don't want to look ignorant or environmentally irresponsible.

I'm not naming names... buuuuuuut... I'm calling them out...

They also spout bald faced lies about why you shouldn't use plastic combs... cuz they cause frizz, and cuz they cause split ends, and cuz they cause static in your beard. There is more behind this myth than just ignorance.

They lie to you and tell you that wood combs are better because plastic combs have sharp edges... and wood doesn't... BULLSHIT... it's made out of wood... and don't you get slivers from wood... and from metal? Ya you do. It doesn't matter what material a comb is manufactured from... if it's poorly finished... (finished being the sanding and polishing part of the manufacturing process)... it's gonna have rough edges. So really... you want a comb that has been highly polished.

They tell you that wood combs distribute beard balm and beard butter more evenly... buuuut wood combs are porous and soak up the butters. Plastic... not gonna soak up the butters and oils... and because they aren't busy sucking them up... they are gonna spread them evenly. Like is that is even a concern?

I smell fake news...

... Cuz that's how they rank higher on Google... they spout their stupid shit strictly for getting eyeballs on their content which builds trust with you and makes them look like an expert in the field... simply because they can grow a beard... not because they have actually tried one... which sells more product. See how that works?

First up... I'm gonna tell you that I have had a big thick badass man beard for over 6 years. My beard is so thick it stays put in my sleep... It looks as good in the morning before I shower as it did when I went to bed. I have ONLY ever used a plastic comb. I did it cuz that's all I had at the time... and I still have the same one... there's a picture of it up at the top. Six years later... still no frizz... still no split ends, and still no static... EVER!

Now I'm sure that those cheap little black plastic combs with the 2 different widths of teeth that have been around since God was still at his momma's teat are partly to blame. I could never used one of those little devils! My beard is WAAAAAAAY too thick... hell... the teeth on my comb are wide af and it still gets caught in my beard. Most of the wood and bamboo combs I've seen online have very narrow teeth and I wouldn't be able to use them anyway. Some of you with your little training beards could probably get away with one... but not mine.

I agree... beard frizz could be a problem...

... but it's not because of your comb...

It's because of what you use to wash your beard. You use a harsh mass produced soap... ya... it's gonna dry your face and beard out. And if it dries your face and beard out... what's it gonna do to the rest of your skin... yup... you are gonna wrinkle and look old well before your time.

Wrinkly skin becomes wrinkly because it thins over time. Think of your penis.. when it's filled with blood... no wrinkles... but after the blood flows out... shriveled and wrinkly... It's just simple physics. How does your skin get thin... because the fat and moisture disappears. It dries out. Imagine a steak becoming a piece of beef jerky. The steak has lots of moisture contained in it's cells... it's then dehydrated... dried out... leaving the jerky with no moisture comparatively speaking.

Why do men tend to age better than women? Cuz men have thicker skin than women... figuratively and literally. Yes... men's genes are programmed to make their skin thicker than women... thanks mom! Also... men aren't cleansing their skin as much as women do with all the fancy cleaners. Women apply and wash the makeup off their faces daily cuz that's what you like... makeup that they keep next to the toilet. Every time the toilet is flushed the microscopic spray coats everything in the bathroom... even the toothbrushes. And what do all those fancy cleansers do? They remove oil from your skin... the exact thing that gives your skin thickness.

Does a Plastic Comb Give You Split Ends?

Nope!

But I'll tell you what does... YOU... drying the fuck out of your beard with a 12 pack of cheap ass soap made with shitty ingredients AND muscling through your beard... (assuming you don't have a little girl's beard)... is what causes split ends. And yes... I can understand that if you were drying it out with cheap ass soap AND powering through the tangles with a comb that has teeth too narrow for your beard... then I could see you getting split ends... but not in the way these jackasses are telling you.

And after they tell you not to use plastic combs... (because they sell wood combs)... and after you have dried your beard out with harsh soaps you buy in a grocery store... they sell you beard oil to re-moisturize your beard... which you also wouldn't need as much of if you didn't dry your beard out in the first place. It's the dog chasing it's tail.

And that is how they get more money out of your wallet!
